About Me

My passion for soccer and my desire to write brought The Game Beckons to life when I began providing recaps and commentary on Indy Eleven, starting with the inaugural game in 2014. The site has periodically included other discussions of the soccer world, but has always remained primarily focused on Indy Eleven.

Through the years, I've been a player, a referee, a coach, a fan, and an engineer and I utilize all of those tools to document my opinions of what is going on in the world of Indy Eleven.

The site name was inspired by the book "Finding the Game" by Gwendolyn Oxenham. In the book, she quotes her boyfriend, and former Notre Dame player, Luke Boughen, when he says,
"When the ball is kicked towards me, I consider the game beckoning me. The game wants me."
